I have a two year old Kubota L3010 which is an outstanding tool/toy which I would highly recommend. However, a couple weeks ago, it started knocking to the point where I towed it back to the barn. Found water in the bowl, so drained it all out and changed the filter. Still did not run right, so had the dealer come get her and check it out as I thought the injectors may have been damaged by the water. They said injectors are fine so they drained the entire fuel system and cleaned it all out. They let it sit out overnite in the rain and checked it again in the morning. Mmmmmm, got water in the fuel, how can that be? After some monkeying around, they checked with Kubota and found that they are having some problems with fuel tanks that leak and allow water in. They are replacing the tank but I thought this info might help someone out there from going crazy trying to troubleshoot a problem. Can't say I know which models have this issue but if you are having similar problems, contact your dealer. Good luck.

Good info. Engineering design problems with fuel tank caps seems a little difficult to understand, but maybe I lack a grasp of the whole problem. Good to hear that Kubota will fix it.
Water can get into fuel tanks from condensation. Air space in tanks become filled with warn humid air during the day. water vapour condenses if nighttime temperatures fall below the dew point. Water ends up on the bottom of the tank where it collects and doesn't evapourate. Good bulk-fuel storage practices and keeping the tractor's tank topped up during the winter help prevent the problem.
In addition, many fuel filter bowls are clear. Water collects in the bottom of the bowl and can ber seen. If visible, the bowl can be removed and the water dumped. Of course, the lines and pump then have to be bled on many tractors, so prevention is better than cure.

It's a good idea to run an additive in your fuel both summer and winter, most cure jelling in the winter and water in the summer. I don't use any specific brand, just grab the one on the shelf that the Cummins approval. ....

You need to check you fuel source as may times the distrubutors fuel tank may have water in it or you storage tank can have water.
Does the Kubota have a steel or plastic tank? For the record I had a hole in the tank on my MF65. Dificult to replace and did not want to drain and braize therefore I applied the 2 part solid epoxi (gray stick). This was 3 years ago and no leak to date. I have no solution to the PE tank leaks. ....
